Job Title: DIRECTOR/DY DIRECTOR TECHNOLOGY Organization: DIGITAL GREEN Reporting to: CEO & CTO Location: DELHI __________________________________________________ ______________________________ Introduction: Digital Green (DG) is an international, non-profit development organization that builds and deploys information and communication technology to amplify the effectiveness of development efforts to affect sustained, social change. It began as a research project in Microsoft Research India's Technology for Emerging Markets team in 2006, and started functioning as an independent nonprofit in 2008.
The broad focus areas of Digital Green are Agriculture, Livelihood & Health. The organization facilitates knowledge exchange between community engagement for partners looking to learn, contribute and connect on social innovation practices toward improving lives in rural communities. They work with partners throughout the entire experience to share knowledge and capture feedback with supported technologies that allow partners to locally produce and share videos in villages all around the world. The Digital Green system combines technology and social organization to improve the cost-effectiveness and broaden the community participation in existing best practices. The unique components of the Digital Green system include (1) a participatory process for local video production, (2) a human-mediated instruction model for video dissemination and training, (3) a hardware and software technology platform for exchanging data in areas with limited Internet and electrical grid connectivity, and (4) an iterative model to progressively better address the needs and interests of the community with analytical tools and interactive phone-based feedback channels.
